My Sunday Walk at Sundown

Sunset was pretty cool during my sundown stroll through Shoreline Park.

What the...?

The VMAs are on in the background...

First Hammer takes the stage decked out in a suit and pink necktie to perform "U Can't Touch This" while the long haired dude from the Black Eyed Peas looks on in amazement. Fool looks like the grim reaper in a suit.

...Jessica Simpson looks like a skanky, wasted, crack whore who used her blowdryer in the bathtub

...and I just caught child molester R. Kelly's performance to the conclusion for Trapped In The Closet. Did he forget his mic in the closet like he forgot where he left that videotape? The end to the story is not as lame as the performance (talk about trapped in the closet and coming out, Chuck and Rufus are lovers! Is R. Kelly trying to say something?). R. Kelly needs lessons from Rob and Fab in the lip syncing department instead of reciting the lines he feels like mouthing, and he should dump the whole acting bit. When he rehearsed this, didn't anyone ever stop to say, "Mr. Kelly, you're gonna look like a total fool on stage" or did everyone stare mesmerized thinking this guy is a talented genius?

...on the other hand, the Snoop performance with the Diddy led orchestra playing over the Biggie Smalls vocal tracks was kinda cool. But Diddy does look like a fool conducting the whole thing.

...Chris Martin is way off key. I'm a big Coldplay fan but "Speed of Sound" is more like "Sound of Shit" right now. Then again, I think the techs screwed up everyone's performances and have the mics set too low.

...Gwen Stefani and Snoop each win $10,000 for some stupid fashion award. Gwen says she will donate the money to a hospital in Orange County; Snoop says he's donating his share to the Snoop Youth Football League- umm, doesn't this mean its going in his pocket?!

Bad stuff.

20

20 Years Ago: (1985 - I was 6)
I was playing with Star Wars action figures.

Played "house" and kissed one of our friends in a closet... and looked forward to playing house again.

Ate Little Debbie cakes like crazy.

15 Years Ago: (1990 - I was 11)
I begged my mom for Hammer pants.

Chopped off my mullet. (Hey! They were popular back then and every Filipino kid in Hawaii had one!)

Waited for The Arsenio Hall Show to come on at 10:30 on FOX each night.

10 Years Ago: (1995 - I was 16)
Made it to the nationals in both a writing contest and math olymiad and lost.

I caught some weird typhoid feverlike sickness and outdid Lindsay Hohan by losing about 15 lbs. in less than two weeks.

Set my college masterplan and had the mindset that I would become a lawyer instead of an architect.

5 Years Ago: (2000 - I was 21)
I had one year left in getting my degree in Communication Arts and decided that law school would take too damn long.

Mastered the art of text messaging with one hand and without looking.

Found out that I would become a father.

3 Years Ago: (2002 - I was 23)
I moved to California.

Started to miss home cooked meals.

Was unemployed for 6 months, and in between looking for work, felt like I was just on a long vacation with my cousin who was also out of work.

Last Year: (2004 - I was 25)
I started my blog.

Discovered that my tolerance for alcohol is starting to decline.

Realized that I was networking more not only to outshine everyone at work, but more for the "hookups".

This Year: (2005 - I am 26)
I changed work offices and now deal with traffic.

Ate crawfish after almost twenty years.

Finally saw Mark Kozelek perform live.

Yesterday:
I got the noontime shakes and couldn't function after my morning cup of caffeine came to a crash.

I got pissed off for not buying gas near home and ended up spending $42.00 to fill up near work.

...but I got a free sandwich at a deli I frequent.

Last Night:
I drank 2 beers to end the work week.

Had arroz caldo for dinner.

Went to Barnes & Noble at 10pm to pick up a DVD I had on hold.

Today:
Woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep so I watched the DVD I bought last night.

Tomorrow:
Damn laundry.

Go for a hike in Los Altos.

Look for the best price for a camcorder I've had my eye on.

Next Year:
I will be turning 28.

Hopefully, I'll be able to take time off work to go to the Philippines.

5-10 Years From Now:
Still happily married and with a playmate for my son, and be a ballatician that can afford a house in the Bay Area.

Can He? Would You?

He proved that theres nothing lethal about his Weapon of Choice, and he was Madonna's guardian angel in Bad Girl. So does he have what it takes? Honestly I would take him more seriously than Arnold.

Then again, he has made bad decisions like taking on the role as a detective in Gigli.

I wonder if he really is serious about 2008.

...I was probably at work. As usual. The past 38 days have been hectic that I haven't even found the time to write. Oh well. I turned down a job offer today. It was for a new spot in Benicia. Benicia is the lost city near the wine country of Napa; the lost city overshadowed by a more popular one equivalent to saying "I live in San Francisco" when your house is actually in San Bruno. It might have meant a little bit more money and another stepping stone on the career path but I don't feel like tripling my thirty minute morning commute. More money maybe... more money for gas and more money for Excedrin will equal out to what I make now in the long run. I don't like the idea. Work the past few months has been hectic already. In the city avenue noses are high and women parade everywhere as if they were auditioning for a photo shoot for a "MILFs of Burlingame" calendar. Today though was the perfect scene to end the work week.

Who cares if I was decked out in my work gear of slacks and a long sleeved shirt, I wanted to be in the sun. So I spent most of the day just sitting outside with my sleeves rolled up listening to some jazz, enjoying a smoke and getting my grub on. Someone was actually selling crawfish and jambalaya- a craving finally fulfilled. After work I grabbed a few beers with some of the office fuck ups. Cool shit for a shitty week.

...I was up in the city with Rho and J to see Mark Kozelek of the Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon. He played in a benefit show for the West Memphis 3. Who the hell is Mark Kozelek? Well, of all singer-songwriters, this guy's music is my medicine. He only played about twenty minutes but it was well worth it. I recommend everyone check out his CDs. For a real treat check out Whats Next to the Moon, 10 tracks originally by AC/DC which Mark transformed into acoustic ballads. Listen to the original AC/DC tracks first and you'll enjoy this album even more.

The Geek In Me Speaks

...Sony was supposed to release the 2.0 update for American PSPs. The update has been available in Japan for about three weeks. 2.0 includes the long awaited web browser which will put an end on the Wipeout Pure browser hack and all the other home brewed stuff people were creating. The update is delayed on this side of the world, but I was able to get the Japanese update file from work and it runs fine on my PSP. So now this thing is more than just playing Tiger Woods or watching Napoleon Dynamite on the go.

PSP2.0

The browser is pretty cool. Yes, its a pain to type in a web address but you can easily bookmark sites and have up to three tabs available for browsing. Of course this will never replace a notebook but with a WiFi connection at home it can replace the magazine rack in the restroom and the Sunday paper.

I want the new mouse from Apple. If only I can find a store that has it in stock. I played with this last week during my lunch break and this thing is crazy. There are no moving parts except for the center scroll ball but it detects left, middle and right clicks even if there are no real buttons. Cool shit.

Gwen Stefani would definitely say, this shit's bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S...

Watch part of the video here and enjoy, or pick up the DVD and book if you feel like adding a DVD cover picturing a deformed body with three hairy bungholes and a nut sack to your collection.

If the beginning of Rubber Johnny is too freaky for you, then check out the talented Bunny instead. Watch it to the very end and get lost in Bunny's eyes!
