Keoghan Sounds Like an Amazing Racist

Makers of the reality TV show, Amazing Race, have changed the idea for this season so that families of four play instead of bitchy couples.

Anyone catch the first episode which aired on the 27th? Seeing "The Black Family" in bold letters made me flinch at first until I realized that the black family's last name is indeed "Black". The obligatory minority quotient should have been raised on this show to offset the family name, otherwise it could spell remarks that sound racist even if the remarks aren't intended to sound deragatory.

Imagine if one of the white families said something like "We need to beat the Blacks!", "Oh my God, run faster! The Blacks are behind us!" or "I hate those Blacks!".



And it just sounds odd to hear Phil Keoghan give a play by play over shots of the racing families, especially since there is only one black family- "The Shroeder family is ahead but the Blacks are right behind them!", and to finally say at the end, "Sorry Black family, you came in last.".

They got booted but they did seem like the only normal and sane family on the show. Too bad, if they were still in it Reggie could say something cool like, "America, watch out for the Black family. We're taking over!".
